Upcycling 101: Don’t Dump That Old Furniture Just Yet!

Each year, millions of perfectly functional wooden sideboards, dressers, and tables are thrown into skips simply because the varnish looks "dated". Upcycling is the ultimate form of recycling.
The Basics of Upcycling
You don't need to be a master carpenter. Start by picking up a cheap orbital sander. Sand away the top layer of shiny varnish on an old dark-wood dresser. Apply a high-quality primer, and select a modern matte-chalk paint (sage green and pastel blues are trending heavily in 2026). Finish it by swapping the old wooden knobs for modern brushed-brass handles.
Not only have you saved a heavy item from the waste stream, but upcycled furniture frequently sells for hundreds of pounds online. If it's truly broken beyond repair, that's when you call EcoTrash to responsibly strip the wood for biomass recovery!
